I have ran four different Log Max heads and just purchased the latest model, a 7000XT which Log Max swapped out in the field on December 18/09 and completed the install the next day. I now have 125 trouble free hrs on it.
When deciding what processor head was the right way to go I simply did the math. The flow needed for the Log Max was well under the output GPM of a 200 class excavator which left lots of flow for the carrier to multi-function. There is no doubt that this head can produce in both big and small wood.
It’s not just the operator that makes these units out-produce. I find it is faster at feeding plus the new high output top saw and butt saw motors are amazing. I have filed my rakers right off. Operators have tried to tell me that a solid link grab arm is the way to go but that just means they have to center the tree to pick it up. The Log Max can grab the tree even when it is not centered. The rubber feed rolls are more responsive and have better traction. I had over 10,000 hours on my old feed rolls.
Other contractors are watching me closely to see how Log Max handles parts and service and whether they deliver on their promises. I think Log Max’s competition has contractors under a false sense of security! |
